BEGINNER COURSE
The first stage to becoming a student pilot. Learn to take your first radio supervised solo flight in 2 days.
Your journey from the ground to the sky isn’t a very long one. This course is the first stage to learn about paragliding.
This course is designed to teach you basic flight skills over a long weekend. We typically teach this course in a group of no more than 3-4 students. We provide equipment, food and stay for the duration of this course.
COURSE PLAN
DAY 1
Introduction to glider and equipment
Learn and assess wind conditions ideal for flying
Learn to control the glider during takeoff and landing
Basic steering of glider on ground
Pre-flight checks
DAY 2
First short flight (bunny hops)
Take off and landing techniques
Direction control
Controlled touchdown aka landing
DAY 3
Fly from a small hill top at 300ft/100m
Independent takeoff
Learn to steer and take 180° turns in the air
Plan a landing approach and land
Beginner pilot examination

HOW MANY SOLO FLIGHTS CAN I DO?
On the end of 3rd day, based on our experience most people complete 3-4 flights. Depending on the weather and your energy, you can probably do a few more.
CAN I FLY INDEPENDENTLY AFTER THIS COURSE?
At the end of this course, you will learn the basics of flight and become a beginner pilot.
To gain the confidence to fly independently you should to complete the novice and certification course. You may instead take the club pilot course which combines the beginner, novice and certification course together.
DO I NEED MY FLIGHT EQUIPMENT AND GLIDER?
Paragliding Mantra will provide you all the equipment necessary for flight.

WHAT'S NEXT
After completing the beginner course, you will have an assessment with your instructor. Although can take a break between beginner course and the novice course, or the Club Pilot course, it is best to continue training until you're able to fly independently without instructor supervision.
