NOVICE COURSE

A 4 day course to build on the skills you learnt in the beginner course.

Learn the art of gaining altitude, ridge soaring and staying up in the air for long duration.

Novice Course: Welcome

WHAT DO YOU LEARN?

At the end of this 4 day course, you will be able to assess good flying conditions and take-off, fly for several minutes and land independently.


Specifically you will learn the following:

  • Forward and reverse takeoff

  • Kiting to improve takeoff and ground handling

  • Independent takeoff and landing in different wind conditions

  • Active piloting to improve glider control in the air

  • Figure of 8 turns

  • Weight shift turns

  • Ridge soaring

  • Long duration flights

  • Hands off flying

  • Rear riser turns

  • Spot landing

  • Application of speed bar

  • Ridge soaring rules

  • Big ears

HOW MANY FLIGHTS CAN I DO?

You will complete 10-15 flights and log a total of 5-6 hours of flying during this course.

CAN I FLY INDEPENDENTLY AFTER THIS COURSE?

At the end of this course, you will learn top stay in the air for long duration by gaining altitude.


To gain the confidence to fly independently you should gain 10-15 hours of flight experience after having completed this course.

DO I NEED MY FLIGHT EQUIPMENT AND GLIDER?

Paragliding Mantra will provide you all the equipment necessary for flight.

WHAT'S NEXT

After completing the novice course, you will have an assessment with your instructor. Although can take a break between this course and the certification course, it is best to continue training until you're able to fly independently without instructor supervision.

To fly independently, you should try and achieve 10-15 hours of flight experience after having completed this course.
