What a stay-and-fly package actually is

The single most-requested Kamshet format: paragliding by day, Pawna Lake by night. Instead of booking a flight and then scrambling for somewhere to sleep — or booking a campsite and hoping there's a flying slot left — a stay-and-fly package plans both sides of the trip together, on the same dates, with the timing matched.

It works because of geography: the Pawna Lake shoreline sits 15–20 minutes below the Kamshet takeoff faces. You can fly at 4 pm, be lakeside by 5:30, and watch the same ridge you just soared over catch the last light while your barbecue comes up.

Paragliding Mantra handles the flying side — tandems, courses, group slots — and our stay partner, Lakeside Mantra, handles the lakeside side: cottages, camping, meals, bonfire and barbecue on the Pawna shore. One enquiry, one coordinated plan.

This page explains who the package suits, what it costs, how the timing works, and how to book it right — because there is a right order, and most people get it backwards.

Why staying overnight beats the day trip

You can day-trip Kamshet — thousands do — but the day-tripper flies one slot, gets stuck in weekend traffic twice, and goes home wondering what the fuss was about. The two calm flying windows are early morning and late afternoon, and the best version of this trip puts one on each side of a lakeside evening.

There's also weather insurance built into staying. Paragliding is wind-dependent — if your Sunday-afternoon slot gets scrubbed and you drove three hours for it, the trip is a write-off. If you're staying overnight, a postponed slot just becomes Monday morning's slot. The trip survives either way.

For course students staying isn't optional. P1 and P2 programs run back-to-back mornings on the training slope, and commuting from Pune or Mumbai between course days eats your energy and costs you airtime. Students who stay within 15 minutes of the ridge simply learn faster.

And then there's the part nobody plans but everyone remembers: Pawna at night. Bonfire on the shore, barbecue, the lake flat and black, fort silhouettes on the ridge line. The flight is the reason you come; the lakeside evening is the reason you'll come back.

Package formats and honest prices

Fly + Camp: a classic tandem flight plus a night of Pawna lakeside camping with meals, bonfire and barbecue. Roughly ₹4,500–₹6,500 per person all-in — the most popular couples' and friends' format.

Fly + Cottage: tandem flight plus a private lakeside cottage or villa night. Roughly ₹7,000–₹13,000 for two depending on the property — the format for families, anniversaries, and anyone who wants the lake without tent life.

Course + Stay: a P1 or P1+P2 course with a homestay or cottage base near the training slope for the full duration. Course fees (₹25,000–₹40,000) plus accommodation — ask us for the bundled rate, it's usually better than booking each side separately.

Group & Corporate formats scale from 8 to 50+ people: rotating tandem slots through the day, lakeside venue for the evening, and optional add-ons like team activities, transport, and a photographer. Priced per head — the more people, the better the rate.

How to book it right (the order matters)

Step one: book the flight slot first. Flying is the weather-limited part of the trip — everything else is flexible. Once we confirm your date and time window, the stay falls into place around it.

Step two: match the stay to the slot. Afternoon flight → lakeside check-in that evening. Morning flight → check out first or take the stay the night before. We coordinate this with Lakeside Mantra directly so you don't end up with a 6-hour gap between landing and check-in.

Step three: pack light, confirm early. October–February weekends sell out on both sides 1–2 weeks ahead. Weekday dates are easier, quieter, and often discounted on the stay side.

One practical tip: on Pawna camps, confirm the tent is actually lakeside-facing and ask about washroom facilities before paying — camp quality varies a lot in this belt. Staying with a named, reviewed property like Lakeside Mantra removes that gamble entirely.
