Why Fly With Us
APPI-certified pilots, a real safety system, published prices — and people who train pilots for a living flying your tandem.
Book / Enquire NowThe short answer: certified pilots, honest weather calls, real training
There are dozens of tandem operators in the Kamshet belt. What separates a good one from a forgettable one isn't the marketing — it's pilot certification, equipment discipline, and whether the operator cancels flights when conditions aren't right.
Paragliding Mantra is an APPI (Association of Paragliding Pilots and Instructors) certified school — the international rating body for the sport. Every tandem pilot on our roster holds a current APPI tandem rating, and our instructors train students through the same international syllabus rather than informal site-specific shortcuts.
Our pilots aren't seasonal hires. The core team flies this corridor year after year — they know where the lift lives on a westerly, which face switches on first in the morning, and exactly when the conditions say 'not today'. That local depth is what a 'safe flight' actually is made of.
We're also an actual school, not just a tandem stand. That means the person strapping you in trains pilots for a living — the same standards that keep students safe on solo flights keep passengers safe on tandems.
The track record behind that claim: 29+ years of flying at Kamshet, 20,000+ tandem flights flown, and 280+ flyable days a year — an operation that runs on routine, not improvisation.
The site advantage — Kamshet, done properly
We fly the Pawna Lake basin corridor — the most scenic, most reliable line in the region. Not every operator launches the same faces; some fly marginal sites to save drive time. Our launches are the corridor's main faces, chosen by wind direction, not convenience.
Meeting points are fixed landmarks (usually near Kamshet station), transport up the ridge is in our vehicles, and the landing field is a managed gathering point — logistics designed for guests, not for the crew's convenience.
Two daily windows — morning and late afternoon — because mid-day thermals make rides bumpier. Scheduling around passenger comfort rather than operator throughput is a deliberate choice.
And because Kamshet is 45 minutes from Pune and 2.5 from Mumbai with a railway station in the village, 'getting there' doesn't need planning heroics — train, car, or we can advise on the best route for your group.
Safety as a system, not a slogan
Every tandem rig in our fleet carries a reserve parachute, every passenger wears a certified helmet, and every wing is retired on schedule — equipment has service lives, and we log them.
The weather policy is the part guests notice most when it matters: we take a go/no-go call the evening before your slot and confirm by message. If conditions don't cooperate, we reschedule or refund — we don't fly marginal days to keep a booking.
Launch and landing discipline matters more than dramatic claims. Our launches are controlled — pilot-ready, passenger briefed, wind checked, no rushing for a schedule. Landings happen in designated fields the pilots have flown into hundreds of times.
Insurance and documentation: we can share pilot certifications and safety documentation on request — and for corporate or group bookings we provide them upfront, because procurement teams shouldn't have to ask twice.
The experience — not just the flight
A Mantra tandem isn't just the 10–15 minutes in the air. It's a briefing that actually explains what's about to happen, a ride up the ridge with people who know the site, a launch that feels controlled rather than chaotic, and a pilot who's genuinely interested in you seeing the best of the corridor.
We fly the Pawna Lake basin — the most scenic line in the region — and our pilots time the flight to the light. A golden-hour flight over the lake with a pilot who's telling you which fort is which is a different product than a ten-minute circuit with silence.
Options matter too: classic tandem, instructional tandem where you take the controls, acro for people who want the roller-coaster version — different formats for different passengers, priced transparently on the site so you're not negotiating on the field.
Reviews speak here better than we can — our combined rating across platforms reflects the whole experience: the booking clarity, the punctuality, the briefing, the flight, and the follow-up. Check what guests actually say before booking anyone.
Transparent pricing, no field haggling
Our prices are published — classic tandem from ₹3,000, instructional and acro variants priced separately, GoPro video as a clear add-on. No 'call for price', no surprise charges on the field, no pressure tactics when you're already standing at the launch.
Group and corporate bookings get quoted per head with a proper invoice — the kind of paperwork that survives a company's procurement process. Seasonal and weekday discounts are real discounts, not 'original price' theater.
Courses are priced the same way: P1, P2, combined and APPI programs each with a published fee and a clear 'what's included' list — number of solo flights, instructor ratio, equipment, theory hours. You'll know exactly what you're paying for before you pay.
If our pricing isn't the cheapest on the corridor, it's because certified pilots, maintained equipment and a real weather policy cost something. The cheap option is usually cheap for a reason.
